Easy Ways to Clear Blocked Energy with Chakra Meditation and Affirmations: Unblock Chakras with Chakra Healing:
How to unblock Chakras? Start with meditation and Colour Therapy. This involves using colour to uncover problems in particular chakras. But what is a chakra? Chakras simply put, are energy power switches. They switch energy on and off to different parts of your body. Not only can you can block them, you can unblock them!
One method of unblocking them is using Aura Soma or colour therapy. Additionally, if you become more sensitive to the power of colour in your life, you will be able to improve the health and radiance of your own chakras.
How to Clear a Blocked Chakra Safely with Meditation and Affirmations
Unblocking your chakras involves a combination of mindfulness, physical practices, and energy work. Start with meditation or deep breathing exercises to calm the mind and center yourself. Visualization can be powerful—imagine each chakra as a spinning wheel of energy, and envision any blockages dissolving away. Incorporating yoga poses that target specific chakras can also help; for example, heart-opening poses for the heart chakra or grounding poses for the root chakra.
Additionally, consider using healing crystals, essential oils, or sound therapy like singing bowls to enhance the energy flow, especially if chakras become blocked.
Steps for Chakra Balancing Meditation
Use a combination of practices like these:
1. Find a Quiet Space:
Choose a tranquil environment where you can sit or lie down comfortably without distractions.
2. Set an Intention:
Before starting your meditation, take a moment to set a clear intention for your practice. This could be to balance a specific chakra or to cultivate overall well-being.
3. Focus on Your Breath:
Begin by taking deep breaths. Inhale through your nose, allowing your abdomen to expand, and exhale slowly through your mouth. This helps to calm the mind and prepare you for meditation.
4. Visualize Each Chakra:
Starting from the root chakra and moving upwards to the crown chakra, visualize each energy center. Imagine each chakra as a spinning wheel of vibrant light, with its corresponding color:
- Red for the Root Chakra
- Orange for the Sacral Chakra
- Yellow for the Solar Plexus Chakra
- Green for the Heart Chakra
- Blue for the Throat Chakra
- Indigo for the Third Eye Chakra
- Violet or white for the Crown Chakra
5. Use Affirmations:
As you visualize each chakra, repeat positive affirmations related to that energy system centre. For example:
- Root Chakra: "I am grounded and secure"
- Sacral Chakra: "I embrace my creativity and my sexuality"
It's important to approach this process with patience and self-compassion, allowing time for gradual shifts. Trust in your body’s natural ability to heal and increase the flow of energy to where it's needed. Remember, consistency is key, so make these practices a regular part of your routine for the best results.
6. Sound Healing, Chants and Mantras
If your chakras feel blocked, sound healing, chants, and mantras can work wonders to get the energy flowing again. Different frequencies resonate with each chakra, so you can use Tibetan singing bowls, tuning forks, or even specific musical notes to bring balance. Chanting mantras like “Om” (for overall alignment) or “Lam” (for the root chakra) creates vibrations that shift stagnant energy. Even just humming or singing can help—ever notice how a song can lift your mood instantly? It’s all about vibration, and sound has a direct impact on your energy system. So, next time you feel stuck, try some sound therapy—you might be surprised at how quickly you feel lighter and more in tune.
7. Yoga Practice
If your chakras feel blocked, yoga is a fantastic way to get the energy moving again. Each chakra connects to different parts of the body, so certain poses can help release stuck energy. For example, hip openers like Pigeon Pose are great for the sacral chakra, while Heart Openers like Camel Pose can help unblock the heart chakra. Even a simple Cat-Cow stretch can wake up your spine and get everything flowing. The key is to move with intention—focus on your breath, visualize the energy opening up, and let your body guide you. It doesn’t have to be a complicated practice—just a few mindful stretches can make a big difference in how you feel.
Finish off with some relaxation. Perhaps try some Yoga Nidra or Body Scan Meditation. It's often practiced at the end of a yoga session, usually during Savasana. In this meditation, you systematically bring awareness to different parts of the body. This releases tension and promotes deep relaxation and positive energy. It helps integrate the benefits of the yoga practice, calms the nervous system, and can even feel as restorative as deep sleep. Later you can contemplate what came up for you in self-reflection.
8. Using Meditation for Chakra Balancing
When our chakra energy centres are balanced and aligned, we experience a sense of harmony and vitality. Conversely, when they are blocked or imbalanced, we may encounter various physical or emotional issues. Meditation is a powerful tool for chakra balancing, as it helps us connect with our inner selves and promote healing.
The Traditional 9 Chakras
There are 9 chakras in the traditional Chakra system and they have different colours and vibrational energies. Normally we only hear about the 7 chakras within the physical body. But there are more chakras outside the physical body in the ether. These 7 chakras are the energy centres within the body, each associated with different aspects of physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being:
The Earthstar Chakra - Prithvi
Not traditionally part of the main chakra system, this chakra is referred to as 'Prithvi' in Sanskrit. The Earthstar Chakra, located about twelve to eighteen inches below your feet, serves as a grounding force, connecting you to the Earth’s energy and providing stability and a sense of security. Consequently, it holds us to the Earth; otherwise, we would just float off back to Spirit. It literally keeps us alive and connected to the planet, symbolizing deep grounding and connection to the Earth’s core energy. The colour is black. However, don't be afraid to consciously connect to your Earthstar, you will strengthen you earthly ties and possibly your health and well-being too!
If the Earth Star chakra is out of balance or restricted, it can lead to issues with physical health, like fatigue or chronic pain, as well as challenges in creating a stable home environment. Feeling ungrounded can make it difficult to establish a sense of security and stability in your living situation. It's all interconnected, highlighting the importance of grounding and balancing this chakra for overall well-being.
A blocked Earth Star chakras can result in feeling ungrounded, disconnected, and unstable. This can manifest as anxiety, restlessness, or a sense of being out of touch with reality. It's like losing your anchor and feeling adrift, unable to find your footing.
The Root Chakra or Base - Muladhara Chakra
This chakra is located in the perineum at the base of your spine. The colour is red for vitality and life force. However, any problems here can relate to lack of money, security, housing and safety. Life itself may be threatened if there is a major blockage of energy here. People with reduced energy here often live in precarious or dangerous situations.
Sacral Chakra - Svadhishthana
The second sacral chakra is located just above the pubic bone. Orange is the colour here and relates to creativity, reproduction and sexuality, the motherhood principle, fertility, nurturing etc. Moreover, it's all about being rather than doing. Female and wonderful!
When the sacral chakra is restricted, you might experience issues with creativity, emotional expression, and intimacy. This blockage can also lead to physical symptoms like lower back pain, urinary problems, or reproductive issues, as the energy flow in this region is disrupted.
Solar Plexus Chakra - Manipura
The third chakra is also called the Solar Plexus and the colour is yellow. It is located below the chest and just slightly above the navel. This chakra relates to personal power, control issues and authority and the fatherhood principle, achieving goals and getting things done. Furthermore, it's about doing rather than being. Male and Mighty!
When the solar plexus chakra is blocked, you might experience low self-esteem, lack of motivation, and difficulty making decisions. Physically, this blockage can cause digestive issues, stomach pain, and problems related to the liver or pancreas.
Heart Chakra: Anahata
The fourth chakra is the Heart Chakra and it is situated in the centre of the chest above the actual physical heart and it's centred. The Heart Chakra is all about earthly love which is emerald green. This chakra also relates to spiritual love which is a beautiful shade of pink. Emotions often carried here include grief, despair and loss which will cause this chakra to shut down. In addition, it's about feeling rather than thinking.
A blocked heart chakra can lead to difficulties in forming healthy relationships, feelings of isolation, and a lack of empathy. Physically, you might notice heart problems, respiratory issues, or tension in the chest area.
Throat Chakra: Vishuddha
Located in the throat, the fifth chakra is a beautiful vibrant blue. It relates to self-expression such as singing, writing, talking and general communications. This chakra is also associated with truth, clarity, and the ability to convey one’s thoughts and feelings effectively. An imbalanced Throat Chakra may lead to difficulties in expressing oneself, fear of speaking, or feeling misunderstood.
If the throat chakra is blocked, you may struggle with communication, self-expression, and finding your voice. This can also manifest as throat pain, laryngitis, or issues with the neck and shoulders.
Third Eye Chakra: Ajna
The sixth chakra is also called the Third Eye and is located in the middle of the forehead, slightly lower between the brows. It relates to psychic abilities particularly clairvoyance. This is the ability to see in spirit. The colour is indigo blue (a type of dark blue). This enables us to see in spirit - past, present and future in multiple dimensions.
A blocked third eye chakra can cause confusion, lack of intuition, and difficulty focusing or having clear thoughts. Physically, this might result in headaches, sinus issues, or problems with vision.
Crown Chakra: Sahasrara
The seventh chakra and last chakra in the traditional system is the Crown Chakra located in the centre of the top of the head. It is white or sometimes a pale mauve. This is where all the chi force (or life force) enters the physical body. This chakra relates to the mental faculties and thinking. It is very important; a blockage here could affect the entire body. Thinking not feeling - where many western people live!
When the crown chakra is blocked, you might feel disconnected from your spiritual self, experience a lack of purpose, and have difficulty finding meaning in life. This blockage can also lead to headaches, neurological issues, or problems with the pituitary gland.
The Godhead Chakra - Brahmarandra
The Godhead Chakra, often referred to as “Brahmarandra” or “Sahasrara” in some traditions, is associated with a silvery or white light. It is typically located about 45 centimeters (or 18 inches) above the head. This chakra is linked to divine consciousness and spiritual enlightenment, facilitating a profound connection with the Universe and higher realms of consciousness.
The concept of the Godhead Chakra, also known as the Soul Star Chakra or the 8th Chakra, is less commonly discussed but equally fascinating. When this chakra is blocked, you might experience a disconnection from your higher self and spiritual guides, leading to a sense of isolation and lack of purpose. Physically, it could manifest as headaches, dizziness, or confusion, as the flow of divine energy and higher consciousness is disrupted.
Colours and Chakras
All colours vibrate at certain frequencies and these frequencies can be used to help people feel better. Did you know that some rooms inside Australian, American and European gaols (jails for our USA visitors) are being painted pink! Observations were made of inmates behaviour to see how they responded to certain colours. Painting the rooms blue caused higher levels of depression in some inmates, red made them more hyperactive (not a good thing in gaol!).
Additionally, did you also know that colours such as orange, yellow and red can make people feel more hungry? That is why MacDonalds uses these colours in their restaurants - to get you buying more food.

Unblocking Animal Chakras and Colour
Pets and people often like green as it makes them feel relaxed and peaceful. Green represents growth and cats perceive green and blue tones better than other colours.
Furthermore, many birds are attracted to bright colours for example yellow and red as they can represent food sources.
Animals also have similar chakra systems to humans. Reiki practitioners will probably notice if they give reiki to animals they may feel a corresponding energy in their own body. This is particularly useful if there's an energy blockage in the animal's body, the reiki practitioner can then focus on that area. These chakras are also linked to certain colours for example, the base chakra is red and has a very grounding energy.

Chakra Imbalance causes a Change in Colour
It should be noted that Chakras change colour. My Heart Chakra for example is often magenta in colour and has been for many years (magenta is the combination of pink and purple, spiritual love and spirit from the crown chakra). When we experience problems in our lives, our chakras will turn murky and often change colour to a grey or dull brown. Particular chakras will be affected depending upon the problem. For example relationship difficulties often stem from blockages in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th chakras. That is the chakras relating to sex, power, control and love.
In general brighter clear colours are healthier than murky dull colours. Sometimes when you are really clear, certain chakras may appear sparkly, iridescent or opalescent. Congratulations, you've got your act together as these are very high frequencies. Other standout colours are metallic gold and silver, this means you have really cleared an issue somewhere in that particular chakra. This area of your body is vibrating at a higher rate.
To have a happy and healthy life, all chakras must be balanced. That is one chakra should not override another. These power switches should be an integrated system sharing energy in a balanced and harmonious manner throughout the body.
Using Drugs and Alcohol to Unblock Chakras
I strongly advise that you do not try drugs, alcohol or even natural substances to unblock your chakras. Opening chakras too quickly can result in ongoing mood disorders and even mental breakdowns. The safest way is meditation over long periods of time. You can enhance this natural process with reiki or energy healing. Reiki attunements are excellent if you spend time integrating the energy between attunements. Racing to mastership isn't a good idea.
New Chakras
The Universe is also 'growing' new chakras in our bodies e.g. Turquoise between the heart and throat which relates to loving and trusting our own self-expression. Another new power switch coming through is Lime Green between the solar plexus and the heart. Many more people are now reporting seeing these colours as new chakras.
How to unblock chakras? Start noticing how you feel as you encounter different colours. Pay attention to their effects in your life. Imagine your chakras opening and closing. Imagine their colours are radiant and brightly glowly. Above all, make a start today...sit with yourself and imagine what your own chakras look and feel like.
