So You Want To Be A Psychic Reader

Do you have a burning desire to be a psychic reader? Perhaps you have had several psychic readings and have decided that there must be something in this and I want to learn more?

It’s absolutely amazing how many people have psychic talents without even realising it! In the course of doing thousands of readings, I have regularly come across many people who would like to be a reader and yet they haven’t done anything about it. Why don’t they? What is it that usually halts them in their tracks?

After talking with budding potential readers, I discover they have insufficient confidence in themselves. Even the most professional readers will go through times of self examination and possible self doubt, however they work through these feelings. A potential new reader having these feelings needs to tackle them head on and deal with them rather than give up completely.

Those unable to fulfill their desire of reading professionally, sometimes carry a burden of self-doubt keeping them on the clients’ side of the psychic desk so to speak. If this applies to you, then talk to a genuine professional psychic who maybe able to give you options to allay your fears and give you confidence to make a modest start. The old adage ‘a problem shared is a problem halved’ is true, especially when it concerns our heart’s desires.

How Do Good Psychics Read?

The first thing to consider is that reading is an art form not a science. By this I mean, there are no hard and fast, black and white, concrete realities. A good Psychic can pick up a flow of energy around the client. Due to the flowing nature of energy and the effects of free will, nothing is 100% guaranteed. There are no guarantees in life, apart from death and taxes so the old saying goes. A good psychic will give the likely outcome of a situation if the client continues on the present path with the same energies present. A client always has free will, therefore can change direction. Also remember, if a client asks about another person, that person too has free will and will also change their lives as they see fit. Psychics cannot make that person change to suit the client. But clients can change to suit themselves.

Successful psychic readings can draw on past, present or future energies. They will also offer comfort and reassurance as well as giving information and options to the client. Often a client feels better, having off loaded and vented difficult issues. Some readers also offer various healing modalities and there is quite a broad crossover between healing and reading. A good reader is a messenger of spirit who has the genuine desire to facilitate consciousness and assist the client in a caring and compassionate manner. A good reader offers a non-judgemental platform for enlightenment which will result in the client having an “ah ha” experience. The penny of consciousness will drop inside the client’s brain. He or she will understand what has led to the present situation and how he or she can deal with it in future. Therefore readings are energetic experiences, they are not cast in stone.

It is NOT appropriate to pander to a client’s ego, by telling them what they wish to hear. This destroys the integrity of the message given by ‘upstairs’. Stroking a client’s ego this way does nothing to help them change their situation. It is a type of prostitution whereby the psychic is shortchanging herself and her client by not telling the truth. These are rather strong words, but we must tell the truth as sensitively and compassionately as we can. The message given by Spirit must be delivered to the client in a manner she or he can understand and digest. Telling someone a ‘white lie’ to make them feel better will only demoralise them further, when the event never materialises.

What Modalities and Tools Should I Use?

Some psychics don’t use tools at all. They rely on their own intuitive skills such as Clairvoyance (clear sight), Clairaudience, (clear hearing) and Clairaudience (clear presence) and Mediumship. Others like to keep a large ‘toolbox’ including different Oracle, Playing and/or Tarot cards, Runes, I-Ching, Palmistry, Dream Interpretation, Astrology and Numerology. These are just a few of the more common psychic arts. There are many more e.g. crystals, angel practices and automatic writing. The method you choose is just one part of reading and regardless of whichever method is used, there needs to be a space for divine intervention and the principle of randomness to occur. Many readers use established methods and some develop their own.

How you read is a matter of personal choice and what modality ‘calls you’. What forms of reading do you feel drawn to? Basically you can use anything that has a ‘random’ element which the universe can speak to you. This means you can literally read anything, throwing runes, stones, or chicken feet – it makes no difference provided the psychic art gives you a message or vibration. Some people read clouds, some tea leaves. I once had a psychic working for my company who used to read her hot breath breathed onto a mirror when she was talking with clients. I’ve even heard of people who read the bumps on client’s butts!  I find this a bit difficult during phone readings myself!

It doesn’t really matter how the reading is done, providing that the reader goes into an altered state of consciousness where she or he can genuinely connect with spirit. A good reader can let go of her or his ego and channel or relate the information from spirit that sometimes appears in the form of a guide or angel. The integrity of the message must not be lost and the message has to be given in a form that the client can understand. A reader may have to use various methods of getting the point across in an understandable and practical format, whilst simultaneously being empathetic and staying connected with spirit.

How Do I Get Psychic Reading Experience?

Firstly decide what modality you would like to use. Then you practise, practise, practise and then practise some more. When you feel you have acquired an affinity with your selected tools of the trade, then you are ready to try out your new-found skills with friends and family. I would recommend that you only try your skills out with people who are interested in psychic readings. The bible says ‘don’t cast pearl before swine’ which is a rather judgemental way of saying it’s not wise to advise people who are not ready for your pearls of wisdom. You must have the personal attributes of tact and diplomacy as well as compassion and integrity. You need to be able to set limits with clients, especially time limits and other professional boundary limits. Occasionally, you may feel you cannot help a particular client and you need to be strong and honest enough to say that you cannot assist. You could then refer this client to another psychic who you trust.

I would advise all psychics both professional and novice, to undertake a pathway of self-development. It is only by facing our own issues that we can become clear enough to deal with the many and varied issues of others. Being a psychic reader is not for the faint hearted, you will hear and sometimes see things that maybe shocking. You will have to face your own fears and learn to protect yourself so you are not overwhelmed with the various spiritual energies you will be working with. However mostly, professional psychic reading is both fascinating and wonderful for reader and client. Eventually, if you find your readings are accurate and give solace and guidance, you might decide to go further and turn your interest into a profession. Initially you may take a stand at a local market or work a couple of afternoons in a new age or gift store.

What About Charging for my Services?

Some people don’t seek to develop their services to a professional level and that’s fine. Some may believe it is inappropriate to charge for their talents, so they just read for friends and family. The reason sometimes given is they have ‘a gift’ so they believe they shouldn’t charge money. Just because something is a natural ability doesn’t mean it’s inappropriate to charge. Artists paint and charge, singers sing and charge, musicians make music and charge, sportsmen and women become professionals and make money. There is nothing wrong with making money with your natural gifts; a problem only exists where moneymaking is the driving force. Being a psychic reader is a vocation and not just a job. You must believe 100% in what you are doing and have a passion and fascination for reading or it will show in your readings. Clients today are more sophisticated than yesteryear and can usually tell if there is a hidden agenda. If you don’t really believe in what you are doing, you will find clients simply won’t come to you.

Do I Need any Qualifications or Memberships?

The short answer is no. You do not need to belong to any associations, there are no recognised professional qualifications as such. Our current government does not recognise any validity in psychic reading. Sometimes Australian police will use psychics, usually covertly and this depends entirely on the officer concerned.  It certainly is not standard practice.

There are various courses, especially counselling courses that could assist you in your psychic development. The number one requirement is a fervent desire to read. The number two is some natural ability that you can hone and practise.

A Word of ‘Friendly Advice’

The best advice I can offer you when following the psychic path, is to follow your own intuition. Ask yourself “Do I feel heavy or light when I think about reading?”  If you feel light, go ahead with this feeling and read, if you feel heavy then now is not the time. Your body always knows the truth even if your mind can’t tell the difference. Listen to your own intuition and to your body.

A reading with a good, honest psychic can benefit the client for years to come. A good reading will give further options to think about and digest at leisure. A good psychic is someone who is genuinely concerned for the client’s welfare – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Is this the road for you?

If psychic reading is your path, do some research, learn several psychic arts, practise and hone your skills and then take the plunge. It’s an extremely rewarding vocation that gives you a sense of achievement whilst helping others. You can really grow spiritually using your newfound psychic skills and you can meet new and interesting likeminded people. There are many rewards in developing your psychic skills and becoming a professional reader. Good Luck with it and I wish you an insightful and exciting career as a psychic reader if this is your heart’s desire.
