The Base Chakra
The Base chakra is also known as Muladhara, or 'root support' in Sanskrit. It joins the body to the Earthstar Chakra giving you support and stability.
The Muladhara, or Base Chakra is the first of the seven primary chakras in Hindu and yogic traditions. Located at the base of the spine, it is associated with the color red and the element of earth. The word "Muladhara" combines the Sanskrit words "Mula" (root) and "Adhara" (support or base). It is the foundation of the energetic body. This chakra also governs our sense of security, stability, and basic survival instincts. It influences our relationship with the physical world and our sense of groundedness.
Childhood & Your Base Chakra
This Chakra relates to childhood, physical vitality, life and death. But more importantly, the Muladhara lays down the foundation for the relationship with your body.
When balanced, the Muladhara chakra fosters feelings of safety, trust, and prosperity. Imbalances can manifest as anxiety, fear, or physical issues related to the lower body, such as problems with the legs, feet, or lower spine. Practices like grounding exercises, yoga, meditation and the use of gemstones like hematite or red jasper can help harmonize and strengthen the Base Chakra.
Your Family Roots & Housing
Sometimes chakras shut down or are not as open when they could be. If you or your ancestors have had problems with housing eg moving a lot, having difficulties maintaining a home or you can't find a suitable place to live, then Muladhara might be involved.
Kundalini Energy Rising & the Base Chakra
At different times in our lives, the natural spiritual energy known as 'Kundalini' or 'the Dragon's Breath' may rise up the spine from the Base Chakra. As it moves, it opens all the other chakras as it rises up to the Crown chakra.
This is the awakening and ascending of a dormant spiritual energy, that resides at the base of the spine. This process, central to certain yogic and spiritual traditions, is often depicted as a coiled serpent that, when awakened, travels upward through the body's energy centers. The experience of Kundalini rising can lead to profound physical, emotional, and spiritual transformation.
Practitioners may encounter intense sensations such as heat, vibrations, and heightened awareness, as well as deeper insights and enhanced states of consciousness. However, this awakening requires careful preparation and guidance. An unprepared or premature rise can lead to imbalance, physical discomfort and emotional turbulence. Meditation, pranayama (breath control), and ethical living are essential in safely passing through this powerful energetic experience.
