Amazing Aquarians you start with year with the Sun shining in your sign mid-January. You’ll be socialising and doing your usual technological wizardry. Whilst a great start to the year, your 2018 Aquarius horoscope suggests this is going to be a year of ups and downs in different areas of your life. Your personal life will be challenged but your career and finances are likely to do well.

A year of ups and downs and a chance to look within

This year the Universe will also challenge you to look within and journey down deep into your subconscious to find solutions. You also start the year with Saturn in earthy Capricorn in the 12^th house of secrets, spirituality and hidden things. You could be feeling very solitary or restricted in some way and this placement lasts for the entire year.

Venus transits your 9^th house of good fortune, finances, education, higher mind and inspiration. This is a beautiful placement helping you to feel more optimistic regardless of other more difficult influences and could bring you good luck in these areas.

Get ready to expand your horizons

The start of the year sees mega planet Mother Jupiter is in Scorpio with Mars transiting your 10^th house of public image, achievements, awards and authority figures. This is likely to expand your horizons and you may become well known and recognised for some important work or achievement. There could be major changes around your place of residence. You’ll either relocate or renovate between mid-May and 6^th November when your ruler Uranus visits your 4^th house, home of home and family (especially your mother). You may feel a little testy in June and August 2018

Mars goes retrograde 26^th June through to 27^th August in Aquarius in your 10^th house. This is likely to lead to irritability and testiness. You might feel unmotivated and lacking in energy during this time. Be careful you don’t get sick. Look after yourself well now and do not plan any major projects as you’re likely to run out of steam to complete them. You might also become notorious for your aggression so do try and stay calm. You could have run-ins with authority figures who seek to restrict you in some way. There may be problems with your father or other male family members who act like your father. During this time you also have Mars retrograde in your 12^th house, when obstacles and delays seem to dog your every move. The situation diminishes and you feel more confident again, as Mars turns direct mid September in your sign Aquarius and you move forward again at work and/or with your various projects.

27^th July you experience a lunar eclipse in Aquarius in your 4^th house of home and family. Uranus is at a difficult angle and Mars is also retrograde. It’s a tough time. You might be having wonderfully weird ideas, inventing new things or unusual ways to solve problems. During Mercury retrograde, communications might turn into miscommunications. These events affect all the star signs and you should be careful with contracts, business and communications generally.

During 2018 Mercury goes retrograde 3 times:

1. 22^nd March to 15^th April
2. 26^th July until 19^th August
3. 16^th November until 6^th December

When retrograde Mercury moves forward (aka goes direct), misunderstandings and delays improve and your normal flow comes back again. There’s also a shadow period of around 5-7 days on either side of the dates above as Mercury increases or decreases in intensity. During this time, the effects of Mercury retrograde are less severe.
